Sunflower Rising

Sunflowers are the flowers of giants - they demand attention.  I took these photos at a farm the other day.  I was on my way home and was caught by the light and shadows reflected off the bright yellow petals and the dark green leaves.

Ah, Sunflower
by William Blake
(1757-1827)

Ah, sunflower, weary of time,
     Who countest the steps of the sun;
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
     Where the traveller's journey is done;

Where the Youth pined away with desire,
     And the pale virgin shrouded in snow,
Arise from their graves, and aspire
     Where my Sunflower wishes to go!

May It Be

Where the Sun Rises First
